Wide-Ruled: A Generative, Interactive Story Authoring Environment
Lakshmi Jayapalan
IDT Masters Thesis Project, 2005

Wide-Ruled is a graphical authoring tool which will enable a non-programmer to model their thoughts and goals for a story space, therefore allowing the creation of extensive generative story experiences. The author modeling system is based on Universe, a program that composes plot outlines for soap operas, by Michael Lebowitz. Wide-Ruled allows a larger population of authors to create author-modeled generative stories. It will therefore be very useful for researching the possibilities and limitations of this type of author-modeling and story generation.

The program runs on any computer with Java installed. If you haven't got Java installed on your computer, you can get hold of it at Sun's Java site. Instructions for how to launch the program on your platform are included in the WideRuledReadMe file.
