Bobby developed a passion for game studies while pursuing Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Virginia in Media Studies and American Studies, focusing on film and popular culture. Rather than focusing specifically on one area of video game scholarship, Bobby prefers a broad approach which can be used to make game studies accessible for fans to improve both games and game culture. Currently he is involved in research on alternative modes of character and identity representations in games in Fox Harrell’s Imagination, Computation, and Expression Lab.

He is also interested in fan communities in the digital age, educational digital enviornments, and the cultural use of immerging technologies. He is an editor for GameCulture Journal and maintains Virtual Fools.

Calvin Ashmore

Calvin originated in the department of Mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University. There he studied chaos and fractals while simultaneously developing skills in programming and fine arts. His current research on developing systems for delivering dramatic content to games, as well as how to develop procedural game content and gameplay. Current Projects: Charbitat, Mermaids

Clara Fernández-Vara

Clara’s research concentrates on the development of videogame theory, focusing on adventure games and the design of players’ experience with the aid of storytelling. She is particularly interested in cross-media artifacts from the standpoint of textual analysis and performance.
