Unreal University,
Raleigh NC, (11/8-11/9/2003)
Four intrepid lab
members braved the bitter North Carolina cold to learn more
about modifying Unreal Tournament in order to bring intellegence
back for the UT ABL project. And there was alot to learn!
Heather Logas worked on learning the ins and outs of level
design while Daniel Rachels investigated importing custom
character models into Unreal and Ari Lamstein along with Nat
Ng looked into Unreal scripting. After the two-day Unreal
boot-camp, they then visited North Carolina University's own
Unreal mod teams, view their work, and compare notes.
The team was able
to preview Unreal Tournament 2004, make some great contacts,
and find a new appreciation for Waffle House. On the long
drive back, they were even granted the opportunity to show
their patriotism by patiently waiting for George W. Bush's
entourage to finish blocking the highway. Definitely an excursion
to remember!
