GVU Brownbag: "Expanding the Horizons of Game Design" -- 3/4/2004

Michael Mateas and EGL students Nolan Lichti, Brian Hochhalter, Heather Logas and Danny Muller shared recent EGL activities with Georgia Tech's Graphics, Visualization and Usability group.

Abstract from the brownbag description:
Four IDT students are working on separate game-related thesis
projects that are attempting to broaden the horizons of the video and
computer gaming world. These projects are experimenting with
strategy, role-playing and relationship-based games and looking for
ways to improve or augment these genres. Since the computer and video
game industry has been looking for ways to expand beyond its
traditional base, these student projects offer examples of what might
be done to provide new options to the casual gamer and how to bring
more depth and variety to the gaming experience.
